25th Seminar on IAESTE Development, Rendsburg, Germany 15 – 18 April 2010
Dear Members and Co-operating Institutions,
Together with IAESTE Germany, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 25th meeting of SID, the Seminar on IAESTE Development, which will take place in Rendsburg from 15th – 18th of April 2010. In this letter you will find general information on SID and the detailed description of the tasks of the Work Groups can be found here.
IAESTE Germany has posted information on the venue, schedule, costs and facilities and information on the Post-Seminar tour on the website http://sid.iaeste.org.
The deadline for registration will be 28th March 2010 – registration is only possible through the IntraWeb!
As you know, SID is an annual meeting where delegates from IAESTE’s participating countries come together and in an intensive three-day session, participate in Work Groups that deal with policy and administrative issues affecting the quality of the IAESTE programme as well as the future of the Association. On the website mentioned above you will find a Delegate’s Guide to SID – this Guide will help you to prepare yourself for a successful participation.
Work Groups 1-4
In the interest of efficiency, each IAESTE Member country, Associate member or Co-operating Institution may send in general no more than two delegates to SID. In deciding who your representatives will be, please bear in mind that, to make the meeting effective, only experienced IAESTE people should participate in Work Groups 1-4. A good guideline would be to send people who have been at least to one Annual Conference. It is in the common interest of IAESTE that as many National Secretaries and IAESTE A.s.b.l. Board Members as possible do attend. When registering, please choose one of the 4 work groups. It would be helpful if you/your delegates carefully follow the advice of the WG Co-ordinators for preparations so that the Work Group sessions can move along smoothly without covering too much old ground.
More detailed information please find on the website http://sid.iaeste.org. The official documents can be found on the IAESTE IntraWeb (Library section). The Practical Guide to IAESTE is also posted on the IntraWeb site and is also essential reading. Please contact me if you require a copy of any of the documents mentioned in this Invitation.
If any countries are interested in hosting SID in April 2012, please contact me for a copy of the SID Hosting Guide so that you can make a presentation during the SID.
If you want to discuss any aspect of SID, please do not hesitate to contact me!
The number of participants is limited to a total of 70. To give every country a chance to participate, the number of participants per country will be limited to two until the deadline. If there are free places left, more participants can be registered. If interested in sending more than two representatives, please contact the SID Co-ordinator as soon as possible.
Limited financial support regarding travel costs is available for countries in need. Please contact IAESTE Germany for further information.

The PostSeminarTour (PST) will take you on Sunday after lunch by bus on a trip to the German Capital, Berlin. In the evening you will see the city from a boat on the river Spree. While enjoying your dinner, the impressive sight will pass by and allow you a unique view. Afterwards you have the option of exploring the city on your own or to enjoy Berlin nightlife in one of the numerous clubs of the city.
The second day will present the city in daylight. A guided Tour to the German parliament, the Reichstag as well as an adventurous “underground Tour” will show you different perspectives. Furthermore, a welcome reception at the German Office for Foreign Affairs will give you the chance to meet some representatives of our government. A bus tour through the city with local tour guides is also part of the programme. After dinner, you are free to discover more of the city or you choose a further tour of Berlin nightlife.
On Tuesday morning, after breakfast, you will enter the bus which takes you to the Gateway to the World, Hamburg. A city tour by bus and on foot after a welcome lunch at the river beach side of the Elbe show you the marvelous places of the old Hanse-town. After dinner you have the chance to discover the famous “Reeperbahn” and Hamburg nightlife. On Wednesday morning after breakfast the PST ends and you will be assisted to get to your place of departure, hopefully having gained an unforgettable experience in Germany.
The fee for the PST is 150 EUR per person. Please confirm at the registration that you would like to participate. As the number of participants is limited to 50, please register as soon as possible as “first come first serve” principle will be applied.
Looking forward to a great event and fruitful discussions / intensive writing sessions to improve our association, IAESTE Asbl.
